This lovely painting by Raphael shows Aphrodite, the goddess of love, in the centre with Psyche, the soul deified, beseeching her. Aphrodite is often portrayed with peacocks, because of their great beauty that is hard to catch and leaves just a remembrance, their feather, of their true beauty.
