Aces Trump?

(This was originally part of Gematria and the Tarot but that section got too long).

here are several books on whether the Aces trumped (triumphed over) the Majors or not.  It would make sense that  one is higher than 2 but then it depends upon whether you are you are using arithmetic (where higher numbers are higher values) or gematria where number values are inversed.

In the latter case,  then it is obvious that the Aces were higher than the Majors and marked a major milestone in the game.  Like Mahjong, the Aces were often considered Seasons and elements of time and when they appeared in a game marked a period of time that would have to pass before the next set of events could occur.

In the Marseilles system,  Ace of Cups - Spring and rain; Ace of Pentacles - Hot Sun, blooms and growth,   Ace of swords - winds and busy activity, Ace of Wands - Winter - things nascent and not yet in bloom; that said there are lots of variants amongst the various Italian and French Tarocchi decks depending upon the area and that does not include the systems of  Giovanni Vacchetta, Papus, Etteilla, The Golden Dawn, Crowley Harris Thoth, Oswald Wirth,  Paul Case's BOTA, Eileen Cannon Reed and Eileen Connolly and perhaps some others I have missed.

Aces Trump  is supported by the Pythagorean Tetraktys ( tetraktys meaning 4 levels; tetra is Greek for 4) where the Ace is obviously on top (look at the picture above).  Considering the Tarot pips, all of the 9's and 10's signify an ending, again pointing to Aces trump. There are other cards games as well that support this  idea of Aces up, like Poker , Solitaire, Bridge, Hearts and so on.  Tarot-wise it appears also as "Gypsy"  YES/NO game or spread.

So Aces obviously win over the pips and it would seem the Majors, but can you think of any time when doing a reading, it has currently been read that way?  I can't except in the Game #1 Yes / No spread, despite peoples inclination to agree with the Golden Dawn and Pythagoras that Aces trump.  Take some time and notice it...get back to me with your findings.  I'm definitely interested.

Next thing  how do the minors relate to the Majors gematrically or don't they?
